hi, is there any technology that could detect the condition of underground PVC piping? Currently, in my company, all the domestic wastewater is buried underground and the codition of the pipe has yet to be inspect since the plant started from day one. need some advice from the experts. thanks.

Hi, unfortunately not that we know of, and certainly nothing that Olympus NDT sells. The only exernal possibility is ground penetrating radar, and I would not be optimistic about that. If you dig them up, you can certainly use conventional ultrasonics to measure corrosion and determine damage; we sell lots of equipment for that. Otherwise, you will need to find or develop a pig for going through the pipe with appropriate sensors.

Good luck,
Michael

Do you have any particular technology in mind? Would a visual inspection of the internal suffice or do you require a volumetric inspection?
