Post Subject: DGS/DAC/TGC
Hello
I am interested in knowing whether anyone has experience with defect sizing using Phased Array UT (defect size much smaller than UT beam size). Any ideas/suggestions/info concerning implemention of DGS/DAC/TGC to achieve the above.

Olympus NDT has some experience with all of the techniques that you mention. We have a manual OmniScan M which runs the AWS D1.1 Indication Rating system, and that works well - exactly the same as with conventional UT. We also have a DGS option for the same instrument, but I don't have any feedback on that yet. The TCG and DAC techniques work fine, much the same as with conventional UT (htough there are practical differneces with phased arrays).
Overall, all these techniques work. This is not a surprise; we are still using ultrasound, and have not changed the laws of physics.
