New! Nortec® 500 Series Portable Eddy Current Flaw Detectors.
February 08, 2007

Waltham, MA, USA, March, 2007 - Olympus NDT, a world leader in nondestructive testing technologies, is pleased to announce the introduction of its new Nortec 500 Series of portable eddy current flaw detectors. Available in three full-featured yet lightweight configurations, the flaw detectors include a 6.5" diagonal full VGA color LCD for increased resolution. Internal balance coils allow use of absolute probes without the need for external balance coil adapters, and a built-in preamplifier adds extra gain when needed. VGA output allows for optional "heads up display" for hands-free operation, while the optional remote-null adapter adds convenience and assures safety. A USB interface provides rapid information transfer, and the Nortec 500 includes PowerLink™ for automatic probe recognition and program set-up.
The Nortec 500 delivers basic single frequency eddy current inspection including external outputs; the Nortec 500S adds digital conductivity, coating thickness measurement, and rotating scanner use; and the Nortec 500D matches the 500S and includes dual frequency capabilities. The new Nortec 500 Series flaw detectors are packaged in Foreign Object Debris-free cases with a single Li-Ion battery suitable for demanding environments and intense applications.
Manufacturers in fields such as aerospace will find the Nortec 500 Series ideally suited to the requirements of their business, as will weld and surface flaw inspectors in a wide range of non-ferrous application environments. The new Nortec 500 flaw detectors are available immediately from Olympus NDT sales representatives.
